The Stratagem Orb is an essential tactical device utilized by the elite soldiers of Super Earth, known as the Helldivers, in their relentless fight to spread managed democracy across the galaxy. Acting as the cornerstone of battlefield coordination, the Stratagem Orb allows Helldivers to call down devastating support assets, supply drops, and precision strikes from orbit with unparalleled efficiency.
Equipped with a highly secure link to the Helldiver Command Network, the Orb enables soldiers to input intricate combinations of directional codes, known as Stratagems, to request critical reinforcements in the heat of battle. Whether summoning orbital bombardments to decimate waves of hostile Automatons, deploying sentry turrets to fortify defensive positions, or calling in much-needed resupply pods, the Stratagem Orb is a lifeline on the chaotic battlefields of intergalactic warfare.
Designed with rugged durability in mind, the Orb’s reinforced outer shell and advanced targeting algorithms ensure functionality in even the most extreme environments—from the burning deserts of alien worlds to the frozen wastelands of distant moons. Glowing red indicators provide real-time feedback on Stratagem deployment, while the ergonomic design allows Helldivers to operate it swiftly under pressure.
In the ever-expanding war for democracy, the Stratagem Orb is more than just a tool—it is the Helldivers’ most trusted ally, delivering overwhelming firepower and support with precision and style. - Successfully combined advanced printing, painting, and electronics to capture the intricate details of the in-game model.
Engineering Skills Demonstrated
- Resin Printing: Produced high-detail opaque and transparent components.
- Electronics Integration: Designed lighting systems with LEDs, reflective tape, and custom switches.
- Painting Techniques: Layered metallic paints and latex masking for realistic wear.
- Assembly: Combined intricate parts with precise alignment for functional interactivity.
Project Summary:
- Designed and fabricated a functional Stratagem Orb replica from Helldivers 2, combining high-detail resin printing, custom electronics, and advanced painting techniques to replicate its iconic in-game appearance.
Design and Fabrication Steps:
[1] 3D Printing and Assembly:
- Printed all components using an Anycubic Mono M5S resin printer with Anycubic Tough Resin for durability and fine detail.
- Clear components were printed with Anycubic High-Clear Resin to achieve transparency for light effects.
- Post-processed parts by washing them in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and curing with the Anycubic Wash and Cure Station 2.0.
- Sanded parts with 400- and 2000-grit wet sandpaper for a smooth finish and optimal paint adhesion.
[2] Painting and Detailing:
- Applied a base coat of TAMIYA gloss black spray paint to all components.
- Used Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black for the main body, followed by Alclad II Stainless Steel for metallic surfaces.
- Created weathered details by applying Vallejo Yellow over liquid latex masking, then peeling to reveal metallic accents beneath.
- Enhanced depth with a black and brown acrylic wash, emphasizing crevices and seams.
[3] Electronics Integration:
- Incorporated 12mm latching push-button switches into the design for interactive functionality.
- Installed LED lighting using Keiurot 12V waterproof LED strips to create a red glow within the orb, complemented by reflective aluminum tape for enhanced light dispersion.
- Wired components using 22 AWG solid-core wires and pre-tinned connections, secured with heat-shrink tubing for durability.
- Powered the electronics with A23 battery holders and 12V alkaline batteries, ensuring compact power solutions.

- Carefully aligned and bonded components using Starbond CA glue for precise assembly.
- Designed a modular system to allow easy access to the battery compartment and lighting components for maintenance.
